Olead DB Searches
OleaDB
OleaDB is the olive database; it is a digital platform created in the 1980s collecting international olive biodiversity.
Each variety is described through a data set that contains both the main morphological and agronomic characteristics and information on molecular descriptors and composition of the oils.
The data set is the result of extensive and systematic bibliographic research aimed at an exhaustive knowledge of the varieties, preserving their names, their growing areas and any homonyms and synonyms.
More than 2,000 bibliographic references can be found, representing a temporal excursus of the contribution to studies on Olea europaea L.
In OLEADB it is possible to find information on the "Olive Germoplasm Banks" recorded in the different olive-growing countries and to consult their consistency in terms of varieties collected.
The continuous and systematic updating of the database provides additional information by enriching the knowledge of each variety.
The database constitutes a service that acts as a link between the scientific communities and the production realities of a country.
